BERGAMO ITALY 10 DAY TORTUS WORKSHOPS 2026

Eric Landon, aka Tortus, will start the workshop with a thorough introduction to his unique approach to the wheel focused on efficiency, posture, and movement to help you throw with less effort and more precision in the wheel.  This hands-on workshop will also give you greater insight into how to throw larger without straining the body under the supervision of Eric. Daily demos will give you the foundation to more deeply explore the many possibilities on the wheel and the knowledge to work more with the clay instead of against it. 

Day 1: will focus on the not so basic basics, centering, coning and pulling with less effort the Tortus way. 

Day 2: focus is on bowls.

Day 3: closed forms, bottles, ball forms. 

Day 4: scaling things up. 

Day 5: An introduction to trimming, then trimming work for the bisque firing.

Day 6: excursion (bisque firing begins) (mountain Trip). 

Day 7: excursion

Day 8: Glaze day, when students will select and glaze 8 pieces to glaze the Tortus way.  There will also be open studio time for practicing at the wheel. 

Day 9: continued open studio for individual practice on the wheel. No instruction this day. 

Day 10: morning kiln unloading, flower arranging workshop by GiuliettaStudio, packing works made. 

The workshops will take place during the hours of 9.30 - 16.00 with a 1 hour lunch break with freshly prepared lunch at the farm. And a daily Italian aperitivo and drinks at the end of each day.

Workshop Price is 2495 euros including materials, glazing of 8 pieces, freshly prepared lunch meals and two dinners at the Farm (welcome Dinner and end goodbye Dinner).

Cancellation Policy: 

Cancellations more than 30 days before the start of the workshop can receive a 50% refund or postponement to a later workshop if available. No refund will be possible within 30 days of the start of the workshop. 

Trips during the workshop:

A Hiking Day trip at the weekend (Saturday or Sunday) to Bergamo Alps where we will hike a few hours and have lunch at a local mountain Refugio. (the transportation is included in the workshop fee)

There will be optional after workshop city trip and site seeing/walk in the old city of Bergamo or Milan or Garda Lake (TBD)

In case you would like to extend your stay for extra independent training at the workshop and touring many other destinations around in the region, please let us know to arrange for you.

This workshop is suitable for people all levels however is not recommended for complete beginners.
