Master the Skill of Wheel-Throwing with TORTUS

Besides his work as a designer and craftsman, Eric has established himself as one of the most respected pottery instructors in the world, teaching over 10,000 students in more than 30 countries. Eric’s teaching style emphasizes fine-tuning hand and body movements to work clay with less effort and greater control, making his workshops especially enriching for potters with some experience.

This workshop will consist of an intensive week of wheel throwing and will also include instruction in clay preparation, trimming, and a short introduction to glaze application, along with numerous demos throughout the week.
In the mornings you will be given a thorough introduction to the techniques that Eric Landon uses to get most out of the clay with a focus on efficiency and precision at the wheel. The workshop is hands-on where you will be practicing the techniques under the guidance and supervision from Eric.
The workshops is not recommended for beginners.

DAY 1:The first day there will be focus on the not so basic basics,; centering, coning and pulling with less effort the Tortus way.
Day 2: focus is bowls.
Day 3: closed forms: meaning vases in different forms.
Day 4: A free day where the students can focus on the forms they would like to with help from Eric and team.
Day 5: is glazing and more throwing in the afternoon.
Saturday ( not a studio day)
Sunday is opening the kiln and picking up the pieces the students have made during the first days of the workshop. Wrapping up loose ends.

It will be possible to finish 4 pieces with glaze.

The workshop is Monday- Friday 10.00- 16.00 and Sunday 9.00-10.30. Saturday is not a studio day. Price is 1450 euros including materials and glazing of 4 pieces.

The workshops are open level where Eric Landon tailor personal instruction to the level of each student. Workshops are limited to twelve students.
The workshops are taught in English.

Cancellation policy:
Cancellations more than 30 days before the start of the workshop can receive a 50% refund or postponement to a later workshop if available. No refund will be possible within 30 days of the start of the workshop. There will be a charge of 50€ handling fee.

Whether in Berlin, Los Angeles, Dubai or other international venues, these workshops offer hands-on guidance tailored to potters with some experience, providing intensive instruction in clay preparation, throwing, and glazing. This two-day workshop is intended for those who already have experience at the wheel and would like to further hone their skills.  The mornings will consist of demos led by Eric with the introduction of techniques and his approach to the wheel - focused on posture and movement to help you throw with more efficiency and precision. The workshop is hands-on where you will be practicing newly learned skills under the guidance and supervision of Eric.

 Your pieces will not be fired or glazed, but youa re welcome to take your pieces home at the end of the two-day workshop. 

 Duration: The workshop will run from 9:00 – 16:00 both days.  There will be a one-hour lunch break.
